The short version
- ChargeSoon does not connect to your bank and does not ask for bank credentials.
- We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
- Diagnostic scans, email imports, platform scans, and statement analysis require your agreement to the in-product disclosure before they start. Automatic browser detection is off until you separately enable it.
- ChargeSoon is designed to identify subscription details, not passwords, full payment-card numbers, or session cookies.
- You review detected subscriptions before relying on them, and estimates may be incomplete or inaccurate.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the ChargeSoon website, Chrome extension, dashboard, diagnostic scan, subscription import tools, notifications, and related support services (collectively, the “Service”). “ChargeSoon,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Service.
This policy does not govern a merchant, email provider, payment platform, browser, app store, or other third party whose page or service you choose to use. Their own terms and privacy policies apply to them.
2. Information we handle
Account and contact information
We process the phone number you submit, phone-verification status, an internal account identifier, authentication records, and notification preferences. To distinguish multiple accounts at the same service, the extension may associate an email address shown on an account or billing page, or entered into an email field during signup or checkout, with a subscription record.
Subscription information
We may process merchant or service name, website domain, plan name, recurring price, currency, billing cadence, signup date, trial end date, renewal date, signup price, account email, billing or cancellation links, status, and the source from which the record was detected. We also store edits, archive or cancellation status inside ChargeSoon, and information needed to prevent duplicate records.
Information from pages you ask ChargeSoon to check
The extension has access to HTTPS pages, but automatic subscription detection remains off until you enable it on the diagnostic results screen before continuing with a membership. Installing the extension or accepting these policies does not enable it. When you enable automatic detection or authorize a supported platform scan, ChargeSoon may process visible page text, the page address and merchant domain, relevant account or billing links, and limited context needed to decide whether a subscription, active trial, completed payment, renewal, or completed cancellation is present. It may briefly retain an email address entered in a signup or checkout email field to associate a later confirmation with the correct account.
ChargeSoon does not intentionally collect passwords, authentication cookies, complete payment-card numbers, bank-account credentials, or other values typed into payment forms. Raw HTML is not sent for AI analysis.
Email receipt information
When you start an email import or diagnostic and select a supported email provider, the extension may open or use that provider’s search interface to locate likely subscription receipts. A diagnostic may also search up to five years of signup and cancellation email subjects, senders, and dates to identify services whose billing pages should be checked. An old signup is not treated as proof of a current paid subscription. It may process sender information, subject lines, dates, visible receipt text, prices, billing cadence, renewal language, and relevant links. Gmail receipt searches cover approximately 14 months; Outlook receipt searches may include older receipts. It does not continuously monitor your inbox, and it does not run an inbox scan unless you initiate the feature.
Files you choose to import
Before reading or uploading the contents of a selected statement or receipt file, ChargeSoon asks you to agree to analysis. Text and spreadsheet files are converted to text in the extension, and that text is sent through Supabase to OpenAI. Supported images and PDFs are sent through Supabase to OpenAI for extraction and analysis. Files and extracted text may contain sensitive personal and financial information. Results are presented for review before you add them to your subscriptions.
Browser and local activity information
To provide features such as “last opened,” unused-service signals, scan progress, deduplication, cached merchant artwork, and pending reviews, the extension may store merchant domains, visit counts and dates, page addresses relevant to billing, and feature state in Chrome’s local extension storage. ChargeSoon does not use browsing activity for advertising or to build a general browsing profile.
Only when you select the optional history checkbox for that diagnostic and grant Chrome’s history permission may it check the last 30 days of visits to a limited list of subscription services. A previously granted Chrome permission alone does not enable history use for a new diagnostic. Matching history is processed locally; subscription information from a suggested billing page may subsequently be sent for AI analysis. Repeated visits may prompt the extension to open a supported billing page and check for a paid plan. A visit does not prove you have a paid subscription and is not included in spending totals without billing-page confirmation. You can decline or revoke browser-history access and still run the receipt and subscription-platform scan. ChargeSoon does not read authentication cookies for this feature.
Diagnostic, usage, and reliability information
We process scan timestamps, completion status, result counts, feature quotas, rate-limit events, error information, and operational logs needed to deliver, secure, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the Service. For features that use AI, we also record usage details such as how long a scan or cancellation took, how many steps it used, how many emails or charges it reviewed, how many subscriptions it found, and the number of AI requests, tokens, and web searches it used with their cost. These records do not include the page, email, or statement content that was analyzed.
Consent and local journey records
We keep account-specific consent preferences and the latest consent record for each scan type in local extension storage, including the disclosure version, scan scope, provider or platform target, time, and optional history choice. The local journey report records detection, saving and dashboard-display status, service domains, timestamps, and your accuracy assessments. It also uses internal record identifiers and comparison hashes to match results. The report is limited to 200 journeys, with entries older than 30 days pruned when the report is read or updated. Exporting the report creates a file you control; sharing that file is your choice.
Payment information for ChargeSoon
If you purchase a paid ChargeSoon plan, our payment provider processes your payment method and checkout information. ChargeSoon may receive a customer identifier, plan, payment status, renewal status, transaction reference, and limited billing contact information. We do not receive or store your complete card number.
Messages
If notifications are enabled, we process your phone number, notification settings, delivery status, and the content needed to send subscription reminders and respond to supported commands. Carrier message and data rates may apply.
3. How we use information
We use information only as reasonably necessary to:
- verify your phone number and maintain your account;
- detect, extract, organize, and display subscriptions, trials, renewals, purchases, and cancellations;
- calculate estimated monthly, yearly, and historical subscription spending;
- send reminders and process supported text commands you enable;
- open requested billing or subscription-management pages and provide user-facing browser features;
- deduplicate records, preserve user edits, and sync your dashboard;
- process purchases, maintain paid access, and administer plan limits;
- secure the Service, enforce rate limits, prevent fraud or abuse, diagnose errors, and maintain reliability;
- respond to support, privacy, and legal requests; and
- comply with law and protect users, ChargeSoon, and others.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use website content, email content, or browsing activity for advertising.
4. Diagnostic scans, imports, and AI-assisted analysis
Some ChargeSoon features use automated and AI-assisted analysis. Before a diagnostic, receipt import, subscription-platform scan, or statement analysis, the extension describes the information processed, its purpose, and its processing providers, and asks for your affirmative agreement. If you agree, ChargeSoon may temporarily open supported subscription services where you are already signed in, check recent receipt candidates through the email provider you selected, and analyze information needed to produce the report.
Agreeing to and starting a diagnostic authorizes ChargeSoon to open those supported pages, read the subscription information visible to the extension, and send necessary excerpts to our processing services. A diagnostic does not enable ongoing browser detection or authorize ChargeSoon to submit a purchase, change a plan, or cancel a third-party subscription. Ongoing detection requires its own opt-in and can be stopped by disabling or removing the extension in Chrome.
For AI-assisted extraction, ChargeSoon sends limited content needed for the requested feature to an AI processing provider (see section 5). Requests to OpenAI use its no-response-storage setting. This does not eliminate separate safety or abuse-monitoring retention; see section 6. ChargeSoon does not send raw page HTML for this purpose. Automated results can be wrong, incomplete, duplicated, or outdated; you are responsible for reviewing them.
Cancel for me
When you confirm Cancel for me, the extension opens the merchant’s website in your browser and works through it on your behalf. At each step it builds a text outline of the visible page, including headings, text, buttons, links, and form labels, and sends that outline, the page address and title, and a short record of the steps taken so far through our backend to Anthropic, whose Claude model chooses the next action. Email addresses and long numbers are removed from the outline before it is sent, and values in password, payment, and similar sensitive fields are not included. When the tab is visible, or when the agent cannot find a way forward and briefly brings the tab to the front, a screenshot of the visible page is also sent to Anthropic. Screenshots are not redacted and can show anything on that page, such as your account email; ChargeSoon does not store them. To confirm a cancellation before your record is updated, a short excerpt of the final page may also be analyzed by OpenAI.
We keep a log of each Cancel for me step: the service, the page address without query parameters, the action taken, the label of the button or field it used, a short summary of the AI’s reasoning and notes, and any retention offer the page showed, such as a discount. The log is linked to your account and deleted with it; it does not include the full page outline. We use it to make cancellations more reliable and to produce aggregated, de-identified insights, for example how many steps a service’s cancellation takes or which services offer a discount before you cancel. Insights we share are combined across many users and never identify you.
The free diagnostic is currently limited to one scan per verified phone number unless ChargeSoon expressly offers another scan.
6. Storage and retention
Subscription records, account information, preferences, and paid-plan status are retained while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. We may retain limited records longer when required for security, fraud prevention, billing, disputes, legal obligations, or enforcement.
Diagnostic results and scan state may be stored locally in the extension so the report can be displayed and, if you choose, imported into your dashboard. Local information remains until it is cleared, replaced, removed through the product, or removed by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser data. Uninstalling the extension does not by itself delete server-side account or subscription records.
Content sent for AI-assisted extraction is processed for the requested operation. ChargeSoon does not use it to create an advertising profile. We configure OpenAI not to save responses for later retrieval. OpenAI may separately retain abuse-monitoring logs, including content, for up to 30 days by default, or longer where permitted under its policies; this setting is not a zero-data-retention guarantee. Anthropic may retain API inputs and outputs under its commercial retention policies, including for safety or abuse monitoring. API content is not used for model training by these providers by default. Applicable retention depends on the provider, model, feature, and account settings. See OpenAI’s data controls and Anthropic’s retention policy. Infrastructure and service providers may retain limited operational or security logs under their own retention requirements.
7. Your controls and choices
- One-time scans: decline the disclosure to leave a diagnostic, receipt, platform, or statement scan unstarted. Use Stop during a diagnostic or receipt scan to stop further scanning.
- Automatic detection: consent is collected on the diagnostic conversion screen and belongs to your signed-in ChargeSoon account. To stop detection, disable or remove the extension in Chrome.
- Diagnostic history: leave the optional history checkbox unchecked, decline Chrome’s permission request, or revoke history access in Chrome.
- Subscriptions: edit, archive, restore, or delete records in the dashboard. Marking a record cancelled in ChargeSoon does not itself cancel the merchant’s plan.
- Notifications: change notification preferences in ChargeSoon. Reply STOP to an SMS to opt out of texts; reply HELP for help where supported.
- Browser access: manage extension permissions in Chrome or uninstall the extension. Removing access may prevent core detection features from working.
- Local data: uninstalling the extension or clearing its site data removes information stored only in that browser profile.
- Account data: contact us to request access or deletion of server-side account information.
Stopping a scan or disabling detection prevents further scanning under that permission; it cannot recall information already submitted for processing. It does not delete previously collected results or saved subscriptions. Account changes stop active explicit scans. Uninstalling ChargeSoon does not cancel your ChargeSoon plan or any merchant subscription.
8. Privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, and to appeal a denied request. You may also have rights to opt out of certain sales, sharing, profiling, or targeted advertising. ChargeSoon does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
We may need to verify your request, including by confirming control of the verified phone number. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law, but we may require proof of authority and identity. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including access controls and encrypted network connections. No service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your browser profile and devices secure, and contact us if you believe your account or information has been compromised.
10. Children
ChargeSoon is not directed to children under 13, and the paid Service is intended for adults who can enter a binding agreement. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Contact us if you believe a child supplied information.
11. U.S. service and international processing
ChargeSoon is currently offered for U.S. phone numbers. Information may be processed in the United States and other locations where our service providers operate. Those locations may have different data-protection laws than your location.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Service changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material or when required by law. If a change requires new consent, ChargeSoon will request it before applying the new practice to you.
13. Contact
For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@chargesoon.com. You may also use the support contact listed with ChargeSoon in the Chrome Web Store.
